Our Commitment to Environmental Responsibility
The Longcourt House Hotel are dedicated to providing a more responsible and eco-friendly environment. We have improved the way we use resources and created a number of sustainable approaches to ensure that we are consistently improving and minimizing any negative effect our procedures and systems have on the environment.
We believe in sourcing and buying responsibly. This includes purchasing as much from the local market as possible, reducing our food miles, as well as stimulating and supporting local businesses.
Steps we have taken as a business in our sustainability journey are:
- Using Rapeseed Oil grown and processed only in Ireland.
- Our organic/food waste is removed from onsite and recycled as compost and converted into biofuel by our selected food waste collector.
- All of our cardboard and glass bottles are recycled.
- We have installed water stations in the kitchen to reduce the use of single use plastic.
- An energy efficient tap has been installed in the bar which dispenses cold and boiling water.
- In the bar we use recyclable and compostable, straws, coasters and takeaway cups.
- All of our shredded paper goes to our local animal rescue centre and used as bedding for all the animals.
- Most recently we have installed two electric car chargers at the front of the hotel for our guests to avail of.
The Key to the Future:
Sustainability is an opportunity for us to see the hospitality industry from a social, economic and environmental perspective. The growth in tourism is increasing the carbon impact the hospitality industry is having and visitors to hotels are actively seeking green initiatives from businesses. By acting right now, in this moment, we are ensuring that The Longcourt House Hotel is working towards achieving the highest levels of sustainability and reducing our carbon footprint.
